Vote Out Old Brigades in 2023 Polls, German-based Igbo Businessman Charges Nigerian Youths

Dr. Collins Osuagwu

National patron of Peoples Democratic Party National Youth Movement, Dr. Collins Osuagwu, is pushing for a radical shift in the 2023 cycle of recruiting public functionaries in Nigeria. He wants the electorate to retire all old brigades at the polls this time around.

Osuagwu who was among those shopping for the Imo State governorship in 2019 is calling on the Nigerian people to vote for young and competent leaders, in all segments of the 2023 elections.

He is also calling on all cadres of leaders in Eastern Nigeria, to speak up for the Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, who is being held by the country’s secret police, DSS.

The Mbano born philanthropist and Germany based oil magnet says the silence of Igbo leaders on Nnamdi Kanu’s case is not golden, adding, “this can simply be interpreted as act of cowardliness which is not in anyway represented the Igbos and their bloodline.

‘’Take a look at Sheikh Ahmad Gumi negotiating and canvassing amnesty for bandits in the North, the Yoruba people continuous rally, protest and support for Sunday Igboho, “Your display of cowardice is pitiful.”

Continuing, Osuagwu said ‘’in as much as I condemned attacks on security agencies, their stations, innocent people and the destruction of properties in South-East by the unknown gunmen, we must also know that boko haram, Killer headsmen and bandits has raised more havoc in the North yet the likes of Gumi and others are still speaking up and negotiating for them publicly.

‘’You may not like Kanu, his style and activities but we must also know that failure to speak up may be sending a message that South-East leaders are lacking firmness of purpose to defend their own.’’

The Chief Executive Officer of ‘Zeus Marina Oil and Gas LTd said he is neither an IPOB member at home nor abroad, pointing out, ‘’as a full blooded Igbo man, I believe it is very necessary for every Igbo person to be their brothers and sisters keeper.

”Some of the things Kanu said happened. You can’t just completely ignore Kanu and many things he said after some people from the North are advocating amnesty for boko haram, killers herdsmen and bandits that have terrorized the Northern part of Nigeria, killed, raped and rendered families homeless.

”It is disheartening that we are busy fighting our own, most of our political leaders are completely silent because of their political appointment or their selfish present and future political interest”, Osuagwu said.

The leadership vacuum, discontent and disconnect created by selfish leaders in the South-East, according to him, ‘’resulted in disillusionment among the people in our region. That is why our youthful energy is going into pushing for our exit from Nigeria. That energy would have been put into good regional/national use for a better society.’’

While Osuagwu pointed out that though Kanu’s tactics may not have been the most encouraging, he still harped on voting out the old brigade, insisting, ‘’people must not repeat mistakes they made in the past and mostly that of 2019 which I participated again in the 2023 bpolls.’’
