The Flesh And Its Sterotype

Call him carnal he takes offence. Tell her she lives in the flesh, she flies off the handle .  Remind him how worldly he has been in his activities he feels depressed.

Tell him, he is always in the Spirit , he chuckles in self fulfilment. Remind her of how “uncarnal”  she has been in her spiritual life she smiles unassumingly .

These and more are our daily experiences, words and expressions we hear or say at every turn.

We are flesh  not by default  but by divine purpose. The two are not evil, however,  their abuse comes with consequences.

Flesh is us and we are flesh, so inseparable that we can only but manage, control and moderate it not to kill it.

It is part of us , killing it means killing ourselves .

Christ was God and man,  his divinity did not make him less a human with less challenges of the flesh to deal with .

He was full human and his flesh was not sterilized. It was  alert, sensitive and reactive to the temptations of the world.

His plea at the Garden  of Gethsamane for the cup to be taken away from him, was the flesh reacting. His groan at the point of chastisement was the flesh responding.

Even his cry on the cross wasnt his divinity manifesting but his humanity. He didn’t kill his flesh ,if he had , his mission on earth would have been robotic with no personal input  of his in the salvation of humanity.

Flesh is humanity’ devil’ advocate . Without the flesh  we are all the same. The flesh is our test, without it our works and  efforts remain untested .

The difference between  a spirit  controlled person and the flesh controlled one is the ability to either control,  manage etc the flesh or otherwise, not necessarily the absence or killing of the flesh.

We are Spirit, made in the image and likeness of God  striving to  undo and tame  the flesh in us.  The best we can achieve in all these is to manage , tame and control not to kill it.

The flesh is an entity of its own. It is “un-killable” always manifesting, raring its head at any point either to disgrace or pull down.

The flesh can’t be born again. It is not its nature to be spiritual. Being broken daily may be the only way to put a check on its onslaught .

The flesh  is no respecter of tongue speaking. A fiery preacher and demon caster without a daily brokeness would always be at the  mercy of the flesh , falling and rising, making promises and breaking them ,  breathing hot and simmering into lukewarmness.

Only a man who does not know the intrigues  of the flesh and its domineering enticing power would come unguarded  before it boasting . Always strategic with a bull eye accuracy to pull down and make a mince meat of he who thinks he stands without a daily habit of brokeness .

I fear you not the flesh , always careful dealing with you ,for your brazen arrogance in messing up the unguarded is disgusting.

You are weak before the humble, you are lame before  a forgiving soul, your  onslaught is far removed from a broken “heart” that daily renews “himself”  but to the boastful, the proud and fame seekers whose quest for public praises is like a deer that pines for water, you drag to the mud.

I don’t argue with you, I walk away. I don’t engage in any conversation with you, I just walk away.  I flee at your sight. No matter how friendly your gestures appear ,  you would always pull your claws to scratch or your fangs to bite.

The flesh can’t be killed in our human actions. It is  part of the equation of our humanity. We are human because of  its presence, without  the flesh  we are more like angels or gods.

Try not to wrestle with the flesh with your human power.

Beware of its gifts and simulations. Be weary of its appearances and suggestiveness, it sweeps like a tsunami to the unguarded soul.

Guard your heart daily , renew it by day and walk on the path of brokeness at every turn, anything less this, ones survival in the hand of flesh is slim and impossible.

Grace will help us
