Amputations Without Anesthesia as Israel Refuses Ceasefire

As Israel refuses a ceasefire, fighting persists in eight main areas in northern Gaza, with the most intense clashes in the northwest and southwest. The Israeli military said Tuesday with the help of reservists, identified and destroyed “a number of tunnels located in a civilian neighborhood in the Beit Hanoun area” on Monday.

The World Health Organization spokesperson during a press briefing in Geneva, Switzerland on Tuesday confirmed that some doctors in Gaza have been performing medical operations on victims of the war, including amputations, without anesthesia.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu has said Israel will assume ‘overall security responsibility’ in Gaza indefinitely after the war ends. He emphasized it was necessary that Gaza should be governed by those who oppose Hamas’ methods, in order to avoid future massacres like what happened on October 7.

Currently, Israeli forces have secured the highway to Gaza City and the parallel coastal route. After the blasts in the southern Gaza Strip, around 23 people were killed in Israeli air strikes on Rafah and Khan Younis, the Hamas-run health ministry affirmed. A Palestinian journalist working with Wafa along with 42 family members was also killed by an Israeli air strike in Gaza City.

Ultimately, the continual war attacks have influenced other countries with France reporting about 1,100 anti-semitic acts and the Singapore government warning residents and visitors against displaying emblems or wearing articles related to the Israel-Hamas conflict.
