Science and Technology Minister, Onu, denies lobbying for Chief of Staff

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has refuted media report linking him with lobbying for the vacant position of Chief of Staff to the President. Onu described the purveyors of the story as peddlers of fake news who thrive in false speculations.

Sources close to the Minister told newsmen in Abuja that there was no iota of truth in the story, describing it as an absolute falsehood.

According to the sources, the Minister is fully engaged with a lot of activities in the Ministry which are intended to assist the President actualize the next level agenda of the administration, adding that he (Onu) had no time in pursuing shadows.

The sources further quoted Onu as warning mischief makers to desist from using his name in vain.

The Minister noted that it was the prerogative of the President to decide who works with him in any capacity, adding that it was not in the place of speculators to do so for him, describing such act as unpatriotic.

The office of the Chief of Staff became vacant following the death of the former occupant of the position, Mallam Abba Kyari recently due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
