Protests Rock Enugu As Mbaka Goes Missing

Awka – The cleric in charge of Adoration Ministries, Enugu Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka has reportedly gone missing.

The catholic priest was said to be last seen yesterday and efforts to reach him have failed.

Mbaka has in recent times, been vocal in criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari, calling for his impeachment over the growing insecurity in the country.

The outspoken priest who had been at the forefront of campaigning for president Buhari during the 2015 general elections, suddenly made a u-turn, calling for his impeachment for allegedly underperforming.

The Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu, had in a swift response, taken to a public statement to blast the cleric, claiming he became groused with President Buhari, when the latter refused to grant his request for contracts to be awarded to three of his friends.

Meanwhile, the President-General of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, has raised the alarm that aides to the priest have neither seen nor heard from him since Tuesday.

In a statement on Wednesday, Nnabuike said they are giving the Federal Government 48 hours to produce the priest, else they should be ready to face Igbo youths.

“We have it on good authority that his aides have neither seen nor heard from him since Tuesday.

“Calls put to his mobile line have also remained unanswered; this has now prompted us to issue this alarm as we would not take it lightly should anything untoward happen to him.

“We are giving the Federal Government 48 hours to produce the priest, else they should be ready to face Igbo youths. They were dining and wining with him all along and now that he told the truth, they are no longer comfortable with him.

“Let nothing happen to Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka. It will not be in anybody’s interest,” the group warned.

Meanwhile, protests today commenced across parts of Enugu over the news about the missing cleric.

Some of the protesters were worshippers who had come for a usual adoration programme at the adoration ground.

The protesters are calling for the release of the priest by whoever is holding him.
