Politicians Responsible For Nigeria’s Insecurity- Army Chief

Awka – A retired Army Chief, Air Commodore Reuben Ejike Akansi has called out the nation’s political class for the insecurity witnessed in Nigeria, saying the insecurity situation will persist until politicians are ready to nip it in the bud.

Air Commodore Akansi was speaking with TNC correspondent in his country home, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State after an interaction with his Age Grade, Ifunanya Age Grade, Oraofia branch.

According to him, politicians are completely complicit in fueling the growth and advancement of terrorism, banditry and kidnapping in Nigeria.

“Everything happening in the South-East and Nigeria in general is not insecurity but politics, and that is why many people believe that politics is a dirty game.

“We are where we are today in Nigeria because insecurity is being politicised and any day politicians want it to end, it will end,” he maintained.

Rtd Commodore Akansi stated categorically that as a professional, he knows what is happening and what should be done to put an end to the ugly scenario if given the chance.

He commended the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano for not joining the fray and called on the Governors of South-East States to be patriotic and people-oriented in their approach to governance to save the geo-political zone from avoidable crisis and retrogressive mentality.

On his part, Chief Jude Amuzie who hosted the Ifunanya Age Grade, Abagana revealed that his reason for hosting his age mates, was to foster social cooperation and interaction, adding that he wants to contribute his quota in community development through the age grade system.

“Ifunanya Age Grade has done a lot for this town including building a Civic Centre and given Scholarships to indigent indigenes of the town.

“I thank God for my life and what I did today is a sort of reunion and to encourage the age grade to continue their vital role in Nation building,” he said.
