Police in Akwa Ibom dismisses policeman for being a cultist

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has dismissed a Policeman, Mfon Esio for engaging in cult-related activities.

The constable with file number 513379, on the 20th May, 2020, was fingered in a Junior Vikings Confraternity initiation in which one Ubong John William was allegedly abducted and taken to a bush along Marina Road, Eket.

In the bush, the victim was forcefully initiated into the Junior Vikings Confraternity.

It was gathered that the Constable has been subjected to an orderly room trial where he was found guilty of the offence and has been dismissed immediately from the Force.

A statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, N-Nudam Frederick, said the state Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, in his resolve to decimate cultism and other crimes in the State, ordered the dismissal of the policeman to serve as a deterrent to others of his like in the Force.

v. Idorenyin Albert ‘m’
vi. Nseobong Etim Inyang ‘m’
vii. Christopher Sunday Asuquo ‘m’ of Idung Akpautung, Esit Eket L.G.A
viii. Wisdom Effiong Archibong ‘m’ of Idung Akpautung, Esit Eket L.G.A
ix. Ekemini James Ekwere ‘m’ of Idung Akpautung, Esit Eket L.G.A

He revealed that the suspects were arrested at different locations in the State, while exhibits recovered from them included ten locally made pistols, four hundred live cartridges, ten expended cartridges, fifteen machetes, five axes, wraps of substance suspected to be cocaine, and items suspected to be charms.

“The Commissioner of Police Akwa Ibom State, therefore, warns that any persons, no matter how highly placed involved in cultism or other crimes will be promptly arrested and prosecuted accordingly,“ the statement said.
