The Peoples Democratic Party has berated Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu over his recent comments on former Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, and Justice Sehinde Kumuyi.

Akeredolu, who featured on Channels TV program on Sunday, said both Mimiko and Kumuyi are his lifetime enemies.

Responding to a question if his friendship with Mimiko is still intact, Akeredolu said “I doubt that, I took him as a friend but I doubt if truly he is my friend. I am not somebody that hides his feelings, for me, he is a bogus enemy, so that is established now. Reference to him as my friend may probably not be right. To me, he is a bogus enemy and I think he remains so for life”.

The governor also noted that Kumuyi is his bogus enemy, adding that his mind is made up on the two of them.

Reacting to the development, the PDP in a statement on Monday which was obtained by The News Chronicles, expressed shock over the remark, describing it as the highest form of political terrorism.

In the statement which was issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said “The PDP National Campaign Council for Ondo Governorship Election strongly condemns Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s recourse to hate comments against patriotic leaders and citizens of Ondo state over the consensus by the people to replace him with the PDP candidate, Eyitayo Jegede”.

The party said the remark “is an irresponsible hate speech and the highest form of political terrorism in our national contemporary history, which must be condemned by all. We know that Governor Akeredolu and the APC have become deflated and overwhelmed by the massive support for Eyitayo Jegede and the PDP across the state, but it is indeed unfortunate that the Governor can toe such ungodly path in his desperation to cling to power despite being rejected by his people due to his failures”.

“It is equally unfortunate that even as a Christian, Governor Akeredolu had decided to tread a course that is totally against the tenets of the holy book, to name others enemies for life because of blind desperation to hold on to office”.

The PDP mocked Governor Akeredolu that he is now standing alone.
