PDP Braces for Cat and Dog Fight with Ayade over Allegedly Looted Party Property

Cross River State wing of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is spoiling for political fireworks with Governor Ben Ayade. The governor has since dumped the party that made him to President Muhammadu Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a seeming motor touts’ way of doing things, the state secretariat of PDP ‘miraculous’ changed colours to that of APC overnight. The world is familiar with the bible story of Jesus turning water into wine at a marriage feast. Certainly, not the dramatic transformation of the PDP state secretariat.

Apparently unwilling to allow the Calabar novel ‘miracle’ a place in the political history of Nigeria, the now opposition PDP in Cross River has resolved to recover its property that was allegedly looted by those who defected to APC.

PDP State Publicity Secretary, Mike Ojisi, who made this development public, said the party has also resolved to recover three buses allegedly converted to personal property by its erstwhile chairman.

While equally disclosing that the new executive has also resolved to resist the sale of state assets to cronies of the governor, Ojisi said the SWC has resolved “to explore all legitimate avenues to recover the party secretariat.

‘’It has also resolved to recover all relevant property including the three buses which the erstwhile chairman Ntufam Edim Inok, is alleged to have criminally converted to his personal property by changing their ownership details.

“To pursue, mobilise and sensitize the citizens of Cross River State to resist any attempt to sell assets to family members and cronies of the current administration. The SWC also set up a high-powered establishment committee to assess the immediate administrative needs, and recommend comprehensive immediate takeoff needs for administrators of the party.”

Adding that the committee has four members and will be headed by the state secretary of the party, Tony Edako, he said the SWC also appreciated the national working committee of the party, national assembly members, immediate past Caretaker Committee and all stakeholders for midwifing the great rebirth of the party.

While equally announcing that PDP in the state has declared a road to freedom with the people, he pointed out that the rancour-free state congress of the party underscores the fact that the party understands the mechanism of inclusiveness, internal democracy and competence.
