Ojukwu’s Widow Takes Swipe At Obiano Over Plans To Send Rep To S/East Security Summit

Awka – The wife of late Biafran warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu has called on Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano to endeavor to attend the emergency Southeast Dovernors’ security meeting scheduled to hold on Tuesday, at Enugu.

The emergency South East Governors holding tomorrow, is to discuss the worsening state of insecurity in the zone, particularly in Anambra State, which has become a crisis point as a result of the impending guber elections.

Anambra state has in recent times, become a flashpoint for insecurity and violence, resulting in the spate of killings and burning of public and private property across parts of the state.

According to the late Biafran warlord’s wife, all Southeast governors have been requested to attend the meeting in person and not in representative capacity.

Ambassador Ojukwu who took to her Facebook handle, in a hashtag #ObianoMustAttend#, to make the appeal, said she is joining all concerned citizens of Anambra to urge governor Obiano to physically attend the meeting.

“Anambra is boiling.

“It’s no longer just a matter of unknown gunmen….even politically-motivated and other opportunistic killings have now become subsumed under this heading.

“Just last week 8 people, including an illustrious Son, Dr Chike Akunyili, were gruesomely murdered in different locations of the state, yet, no executive condolence visits.

“Yesterday, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi was invaded by rampaging gunmen and a student was shot dead, with another killing and other casualties reported overnight.

“Anambra state is in mayhem; people are postponing funerals and other activities and many Anambra indigenes resident abroad are canceling their Christmas return trips,” she lamented.

She appealed to Governor Obiano, who she claimed, is planning to send his deputy to represent him, to reconsider this approach.

According to her, it is no longer business as usual and the governor should make out time to attend this important security meeting for the sake, not only of Anambrarians, but Igbos as a whole.

“Our people are being gunned down almost on a daily basis.

“As our governor, he is the Chief Security Officer of the State.

“If he is hale and hearty enough to undertake ceaseless sightseeing excursions to the Anambra Airport Construction Site, I believe it will not be too much to ask that he sacrifices some of this precious time to attend this important security meeting for the sake, not only of Ndi Anambra But Ndi Igbo as a whole,” she said.

Ojukwu revealed that the previous campaign with the SOS #SignObianoSign, which was to get the governor to sign the Anti-Open Grazing Bill, has yielded fruit, as according to her, the Anambra House Of Assembly is presently intensifying efforts to prepare and present the Bill for him to sign into Law.
