Obiano, A Major Defect Of Zoning, Group Says As They Sue For End To Zoning Ahead Of Nov Guber Election

Awka – Some stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party in Anambra State under the aegis of PDP Elders and Youths, have endorsed Dr. Tony Nwoye to fly the flag of the party in the November 6th Governorship election in the State.

Tony Nwoye, a former member representing Anambra East and West in the National Assembly, is from Nsugbe in Anambra North Senatorial Zone and is running against the zoning arrangement in the state which favours the Anambra South Senatorial Zone.

But in a joint press briefing in Awka on Thursday, the group urged the PDP delegates for the governorship primaries to overwhelmingly vote Nwoye during the primary coming up in Awka, the state capital in June.

In the briefing jointly addressed by Elder Chukwudi Ojukwu and Comrade Lambert Nnabuife, they said Nwoye’s effective representation of Anambra East/West in the House of Representatives was what endeared him to them.

They were confident that the former President of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) will bring his performance in the green chamber, to bear in the administration of the state.

They argued that the issue of zoning should not be an issue in the election because PDP was not part of the decision for zoning in the State.

“What should be uppermost in the mind of the people this time, should be the capacity and capability of individual aspirants to deliver the much-expected dividend of democracy to Anambrarians not minding party afflictions.

“The only person who can compete and beat other aspirants is Dr. Tony Nwoye.

“Those who are calling for the sticking to zoning hate Anambra State. Governor Willie Obiano has shown the defect of zoning. But the fact that he might have failed does not mean that somebody from his zone will equally fail” the Forum said.

The group also noted that the members of the forum are made up of very strong individuals who are stakeholders that cannot be ignored in the party even in the State.

“So, our views are important and that is why we urge others to look deeper into the inherent qualities of Nwoye as a leader” the groups said.
