No Plans For Merger, AA Party Says As Anambra Guber Nears

Awka – Ahead of the November 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, the Action Alliance (AA) party has denied forming alliance with any Political party in the state.

A recent statement from a self-acclaimed factional Chairman of the party, Chief Kenneth Udeze, had said the party will form alliance with a major political party in the Anambra State, to win the election.

But over the weekend, the party came out to say it is not seeking alliances as the state governorship elections approaches.

The National Chairman of the party, Honorable Adekunle Rufai Omo Aje made the clarification at the inauguration of the AA party secretariat in Awka, over the weekend.

Rufai Omo-Aje, who was flanked by the National Secretary, Amb Suleiman AbdulRasheed, the National woman leader, Miss Esther Esevihare and the state chairperson, Mrs Justina Ekeji, said the party will field its own candidate for the election.

Disclaiming the statement by Chief Udeze, Rufai Omo-Aje said Chief Udeze is a self acclaimed chairman and not a member of the party.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state that our great party is prepared to participate independently in the governorship election in Anambra State. The claim by one Chief Udeze, that our party is seeking alliance with a major political party in the state, is totally false. AA offers Anambra people, the best political alternative come this November 6th Guber poll and if voted into power, the party will bring about a change in the way things are done in the state governance, which obviously, is not acceptable by the people,” he said.

The party, therefore, enjoined the Anambra electorate to come out en mass to support the vision of the party and vote for transformation and paradigm shift come November 6.

In her address, the state chairperson, Mrs Justina Ekeji harped on the need for Anambra citizens to participate actively politics, especially women and youths, so as to bring a desirable change in the state.

According to her, the system is the way it is because the people have shown serious apathy towards participating in elections.

“As a political party, we are not only interested in winning elections in Anambra State. We are also committed to ensuring that the Anambra electorate is alive to the responsibility towards hitch-free polls in the state. We will soon commence massive public enlightenment and other party activities towards raising our people’s consciousness on the electoral process. AA has come to stay in Anambra and very soon, our people will begin to appreciate its ideology which totally centers on true service to the citizens,” she emphasized.
