Nigeria Needs A New Model: Mind Restructuring, Selflessness And Values

Africa Represents The Future Of Humanity
Richard Odusanya

Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience life’s deepest JOY. A hero is somebody who is selfless, who just tries to give back as much as possible, help to build a decent society…. with faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, in such an amazing time and environment, there is nothing worthwhile that cannot be achieve.

When you’re being selfless, you’re thinking less of self, and more of others that may not have been as privileged as yourself. If you think less about yourself, and more about others– you’re generous and kind. It has a validation in the scripture, *Proverbs 10 : 15*

“The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.”

The definition of selfless is being more concerned with the needs of others than with your own needs. Having little concern for one’s own interests. Being selfless helps us connect with others and in doing so itself is rewarding. It helps squash our egos because we are not acting out of pride or for a desire to be noticed. Selflessness helps us get rid of pride, instead of our ego, tapping into our true desired feelings.

Flowing from the above, I am fully persuaded about the need for a change from the current situation that birthed; personal aggrandizement, materialistic and self-seeking sets of political actors that is prevalent presently. We need selfless leadership with creative thinking and productive mindset that can navigate us through the turbulence to the promised Land.

The desolate truth, sometimes, about political leadership is that leaders, in all innocence, can find themselves interned within echo chambers; where they are girded all around by yes-men who agree with them or pander to every of their whim. This can make leaders tone-deaf to real life issues as they are only fed butchered, lacerated information.

It’s a dangerous path to thread by any well-intended leader; a loss in communication is a loss in real political power. Real power is owned by the people; a leader is just as powerful as the collective lordship reposed in him by the rest of us. Nigeria as a nation at crossroads, we sure need a new MODEL.

On the other hand, values are basis and fundamental beliefs that guide or motivate attitude or actions. They help us to determine what is important to us… values in a narrow sense is that which is good, desirable or worthwhile. Values are the motivates behind purposeful action. They are the ends to which we act and come in many form.

Personal values are broad desirable goals that motivate people’s actions and serve as guiding principles in their lives! Values are individual belief that motivate people to act one way or the other. For me, my core value rest on the ability to live in such a way that, history and posterity will remember me as someone whose life has been impactful and helpful to HUMANITY.

It is on these note that we will continue to advance the way-forward in our search for a new Nigeria and the cognitive dissonance to the Mind Restructuring advocacy. Our beloved country Nigeria is in dire need of a new MODEL.

NIGERIA WILL RISE AGAIN…. ARISE ‘O COMPATRIOTS.
