Media Agency Fans Honour Outstanding Traffic Officers in Anambra, Delta

Awka – It was a joyous moment for two traffic officers working in Anambra and Delta States as fans of Traffic Mata, a radio programme on Wazobia93.7 FM, Onitsha, rewarded them with cash gifts of #40, 000 each.

The Traffic Mata show had started the campaign funded by the fans, with the theme, ‘Make an officer Smile,’ to appreciate traffic officers who are diligent and committed to the ethics of their jobs.

The benefitting traffic officers, were Inspector Mary Akaeze of Delta traffic police working at Konwea junction, Asaba, Delta State and Egwu Fidelis of Anambra Traffic management Agency, ATMA, whose duty post is at Oguta Road, Onitsha.

They were among the traffic officers nominated by Traffic Mata fans and eventually were voted for, as deserving of the award.

Handing over the cash gifts at the different locations, the Programs Manager of Wazobia FM, Onitsha, Mr Kriss Muolokwu said the initiative was the brainchild of fans of the station, who felt they could do something to appreciate dedicated traffic personnel.

“What we are seeing today is reward for hardwork. These two persons were chosen because they have distinguished themselves creditably. They are known for being patient, not collecting bribe and other sharp practices. The fans through a transparent voting process, were able to choose them and here we are today, presenting the cash which the fans contributed to them,” he said.

Commending Wazobia fm fans for the initiative, Mr Muolokwu said the station will continue to pursue such initiatives, aimed at rewarding public servants who distinguish themselves in their lines of duty.

A fan of the show from Asaba, Chris Konwea said by driving such initiative, Wazobia FM is taking the lead.

“If anyone else had won the award, I will be surprised. This is a woman everyone knows about her dedication to work. Her emerging goes a long way to give credibility to what Wazobia FM is doing,” he said.

A representative of Delta State Police Command at the event, was also full of praise to the Wazobia brand and fans for the initiative.

The benefitting officers, Inspector Akaeze and Mr Egwu while thanking the fans, said the award will spur them to continue to be at their best in the discharge of their duties.
