The Transportation Minister made this known to Nigerians during an interview on Channels Television breakfast programme Sunrise Daily yesterday.

Former governor of Anambra State and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice-presidential running mate in the 2019 elections, Peter Obi has been admitted to hospital. Media reports noted that the former governor visited the Queen of the Rosary Hospital, Onitsha, Anambra State on Monday where his blood samples were taken for some tests.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday promised to deliver on all his campaign promises to the Nigerian people. The President noted this after breaking his Ramadan fast for the day while addressing newsmen on the insecurity challenges in the country particularly banditry and kidnappings. He told worshipers at the State House Mosque in Abuja that he was aware of the weight of his responsibilities as Commander-In-Chief and was willing to deliver to all Nigerians.

Former Niger Delta militant Asari Dokubo has called the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu a con man. The former militant allegedly stated that Nnamdi Kanu was solely responsible for the killing and death of Anthony Nwoko, a pro-Biafra prophet in Enugu State.

  1. Angry Villagers Block VP’s Convoy

A group of angry villagers yesterday in Abuja blocked the convoy of Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo along the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway in Abuja. Media reports noted that the angry villagers were Gbagyi people at Goza village who intercepted the vice-president’s convoy on his way to the airport.

A magistrate court sitting in Mpape, Abuja yesterday granted Senator Ademola Adeleke, the lawmaker representing Osun West Senatorial District bail of ₦2 million. It will be recalled that The News Chronicle reported on the arrest and detaining of Senator Adeleke by the Nigerian police who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2018 governorship election in Osun State.

The Nigerian Senate and Police yesterday reached an agreement in a closed session of the Senate to end the high rise of insecurity in the country. The presence of the acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu at the meeting signaled positive outcome of the meeting which started at 11:20am and ended at 1:47pm.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara recently stated that the problem the country faces is that of lack of leadership and not corruption as widely touted. The Speaker noted this yesterday at a conference tagged “The Convergence 2.0: Leadership, Power and Politics for Democracy Renewal”. This convergence was Nigeria’s largest gathering of elected young representatives, organized by the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Movement.

  1. NFF President Charged With Misappropriation of Funds

The Federal Government yesterday charged the President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick and four others with alleged misappropriation of $8,400 belonging to Nigeria’s footballing body. In a 17-count charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/93/2019, filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, the money was said to have been paid by FIFA to the NFF as appearance fees in the group stage of the Russia 2018 World Cup.
