JUST IN: DAAR Communications Chairman & Founder Raymond Dokpesi Is Dead

Founder & Chairman of DAAR Communications plc and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Raymond Dokpesi, is dead.

The PDP chieftain who is also a media mogul died in a hospital in Abuja.

Dokpesi founded the African Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM and was the deputy Director-General of technical and systems of Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council.

The Dokpesi family is expected to issue a statement on the development soon.

Dokpesi was a Nigerian businessman and media mogul. He founded DAAR Communications in 1992, which owns the African Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM radio stations. He was also the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council in 2015.

Dokpesi was born in Edo State, Nigeria, in 1951. He studied law at the University of Benin and worked as a lawyer before entering the media industry. He was a founding member of the PDP and served as the party’s national publicity secretary from 1998 to 2001.

Dokpesi was arrested in 2015 on charges of money laundering and was detained for several months. He was eventually acquitted of the charges.

Dokpesi was a controversial figure, but he was also a respected businessman and media mogul. He will be remembered for his role in the development of the Nigerian media industry.
