In Anambra, woman bathes another with hot water, pepper over misunderstanding

A mother of one simply identified as Ifeoma Ihekaibeya is presently battling for her life at Onitsha General Hospital, after her neighbour poured her hot water mixed with pepper.
Ifeoma who hails from Ihiala in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State, was said to have been in constant quarrel with her neighbour, identified as Ngozi Ndubuisi, an indigene of Nimo, in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State and the quarrel had deteriorated into a very sour relationship not just between the two women, but also their children.
It was gathered that efforts by the husbands of both women to resolve the matter had proved abortive, resulting in the attack.
The incident happened at No 20, New Market road, Onitsha on Saturday, when Ngozi poured her the hot water while she was carrying her two months old baby on her arm, according to the victim.
She narrated the whole incident on the hospital bed.
“Before that Saturday, we have had issues many times. When we were quarrelling, she will be telling her children to call me a witch and that I was the one eating all the babies in my womb which explained the reason why I couldn’t give birth.
“Eventually when I gave birth, she continued with the insult. Three weeks ago, we fought because of that and I then went to report the case to the husband. While I was still there, she came and attacked me and the husband separated us.
“Later, we made up and apologized to each other. On that fateful day, she came to ask me to give her nylon so she can use to tie moimoi and I obliged her. I was sitting down, backing her when unknowingly to me, she had mixed the hot water with pepper and then pour it all over my body,” Ifeoma narrated.
She revealed that immediately she did that, she fled when she realized that her husband had reported the matter to Central Police Station (CPS) Onitsha.
“The police came and took pictures and later told me to go to hospital and that is where I have been since then. I really don’t know that she (Ngozi) can be this wicked to try to disfigure me this way,” she sobbed.
When TNC visited the compound, the accused woman was nowhere to be found as other neighbors said she had not returned ever since.
Meanwhile, the Police in Anambra State says it had arrested the suspect yesterday.
In a chat with TNC on Tuesday, the Public Relations Officer of the Police in Anambra, Haruna Mohammed said the suspect was arrested on Monday.
He said the matter which was reported at Central Police Station, Onitsha, is being investigated after which the suspect will be charged to court.
