Gunmen kill Bauchi Assembly Member, abduct 2 wives and one year old child

The Police in Bauchi have confirmed the killing of a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, representing Dass Constituency, Musa Mante Baraza.

The Police Public Relation Officer, Bauchi command of the Nigeria Police, Ahmed Wakili (DSP), who confirmed the incident through the telephone on Friday morning, said that the member was attacked and killed by yet to be identified suspected gunmen late Thursday night at his residence in Dass local government.

As of the time of filing this report, the motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained as the gunmen, suspected to be armed robbers, invaded his residence at the early hours of Thursday night.

Ahmed Wakili said that his two wives and one-year-old child were reportedly abducted by the gunmen with no trace of them as at the time of filing this report.

He, however, said that a team of Police personnel led by the Dass Divisional Police Officer have mobilized to the area to commence an immediate investigation to be able to track down the gunmen.

It will be recalled that the late lawmaker was one of the members of the Assembly who tested positive to COVID-19 infection.
