Governing Council Appointments: Eze Congratulates Uchendu, Giadom, Ogobula, others

As congratulations continue to pour-in on Senator Andrew Uchendu, Chief Victor Giadom, Barr. Isaac Ogbobula, Dr. Chukwu, Mrs. Jumbo, Barr. Okwuoma, Dr. Ndegwe and Barr. Wali, over their appointments into the Boards of various Federal Government-owned Universities and other tertiary institutions, by President Mohammadu Buhari, Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has offered a warm felicitation to share in their joys over their new assignments and elevation.

In a statement made available to Journalists in Port Harcourt, the party Chief described the appointments of the Rivers fine breeds as well-deserved and a call to serve, noting that their new assignments are the products commitment towards ensuring a better, egalitarian and progressive society.

Recall that the President, on 8 April, 2021, reconstituted the Governing Councils of various Federal Universities and other institutions of higher learning and appointed deserving Nigerians among whom are some fine, intelligent progressives from Rivers State.

While Chief Senator Andrew Uchendu was appointed Chairman Governing council, University of Portharcourt (Uniport), Rivers State, the immediate past Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Victor Giadom, was named Board member of the Maritime University, Okerenkoko.

Similarly, from the list released by the presidency, Barr. Isaac Abbot Ogbobula, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Rivers APC is to Chair the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, in Bauchi State.

Others are: Dr. Lawrence Chuku, Member Governing Council, Waziri Umar Federal Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi; Barr. Kingsley Wali, Member Governing Council Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State; Dr. Lebatam Ndegwe, Member Governing Council Kaduna Polytechnic; Barr. Reginald Ukwuoma, Member Governing Council Federal College of Education, Kano, Kano State; and Mrs. Dabota Jumbo, Member Governing Council Federal College of Education Yola, Adamawa State.

Speaking specifically about Senator Andrew Uchendu who is a father figure within the Progressives family in South South, Eze said he is an Administrator par excellence and the immediate past Senator that represented the Rivers East Senatorial Zone of Rivers State at the National Assembly. Accordingly, counseling the admirable Senator who is a seasoned administrator and manager, Eze said thus; “I  have no fear in your ability and capacity to deliver on your new mandate as you have always distinguished yourself in both public and private offices”.

On Victor Giadom, Eze reiterated that “this fearless, unassuming and visionary Administrator who was the past National Chairman of APC, whom God used to put the party in its present enviable status as the greatest political party in Africa, belongs to the class of public service expert that Nigerians can be proud of. I am very convinced that with his membership of the governing Council of the Maritime University the vision of the founding fathers of the University will be actualised accordingly”.

Eze describes Dr Lawrence Chuku as an erudite scholar, grassroots mobiliser and political leader of note and a Member of the Presidential visitation panel to the Federal Polytechnic Oko in Anambra State who will surely brings his wealth of experience to bear on this latest national assignment

Eze further highlighted that having worked closely with  Barr. Isaac Abbot Ogbobula, Barr. Kingsley Wali,  Dr. Lebatam Ndegwe,  Barr. Reginald Ukwuoma, and my very sister Mrs. Dabota Jumbo, the party Chief said he can expressly vouch that all eight (8) appointees from Rivers are seasoned administrators and experienced managers and expressed confidence in their abilities to deliver on their new assignments given their special mastery in public administration.

Eze maintained that these appointments have once rekindled his faith and long-held opinion that President Mohammadu Buhari is truly a great son of Rivers State and that all the risks and persecutions suffered by most party members in the course of embedding the policy and vision of the APC led Federal Government amongst our people was not in vain and is beginning to payoff.

He expressed his thanks to the Minister of Education, Alh. Adamu Adamu for believing those who have sacrificed for the setting up of the APC should not be allowed to be neglected and ignored.

“Those of us from Rivers State are proud of you and for this gesture, we will remain eternally grateful” Eze said.

While thanking President Mohammadu Buhari and Transportation Minister, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi for recommending these appointees for their new jobs, Eze called on those appointed to deploy their massive wealth of experience and public service exposures in their various offices for timely results.

Specifically and specially commending the Minister of Transportation for his efforts in ensuring that the Rivers APC gets her due, Chief Eze, in the statement said, “to our son and political Leader, Rt. Hon. Dr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the workaholic wonder working Minister of Transportation, by these appointments you have nothing else to prove that your love for Rivers State and her people knows no bound. Forget some confused and demented minds doing everything humanly possible to diminish you as failure will continue to be their portion no matter the odds”.

Eze appealed to members of the APC to remain committed to the ideals of the progressives party, stressing that more rewards are stocked in the pipeline for those that have remained steadfast and unwavering towards the course for a better, greater Rivers State”
