Emerging, Why Blood is Flooding Eastern Nigeria

Current bloodletting in Eastern Nigeria, the hotbed of Biafra agitation, is allegedly being masterminded by political forces seeking to pocket the region. Going by some of the worrisome allegations, the killing is aimed at entrenching the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.

It is equally being alleged that the chaos is targeted at political foes of some ambitious power-seekers. IPOB is already canvassing this claim. For the Biafra mass movement, they have found out the identities of those allegedly spilling blood in the East particularly in Imo, Anambra states.

IPOB is alleging that Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and his accomplices created a fake Eastern Security Network (ESN) which is eliminating his political opponents.

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has, however, given credence to the fact that the bloodletting in Eastern Nigeria is politically inspired. According to him, the recent killings in his state is linked to politics, and allegedly perpetrated by some ‘’desperate politicians’’, who are ready to do anything to take over the big commercial state of the East.

But, there have been worrisome speculations that IPOB was responsible for the attacks, especially with the alleged chant of ‘’no Biafra, no election’’ by the attackers in many incidents.

Interestingly, Governor Obiano in an independence day broadcast in Awka, the Anambra capital, stated otherwise. For him, the forces behind the attacks have a target to scare voters and seize power in the state.

“We are in very critical period of our evolution as a free society. Almost every day, we witness events that test our patience as members of a sane society and our resolve as those charged with the responsibility of providing leadership to our people.

“We are confronted by the sight of evil and the brazen display of callousness that is alien to our people. We see our brothers and sister bleed to death from wounds inflicted by their fellow compatriots. And we are forced to ask ourselves, “who is the enemy?”

“For us in Anambra State, we have just stepped into our decisive moment. 37 days from today, Ndi Anambra will decide who will be their next governor. The approaching election has created a strange desperation among the political class leading to acts that are not only inimical to the regime of peace that my administration has entrenched in our beloved state for eight years, but also a threat to democracy.

“The deliberate attempt to heat up the system and create the impression of chaos in Anambra State is a ploy by desperate political leaders to wet the ground and provide a perfect alibi for electoral malpractices. We are aware of this plot, and we shall resist it with all our might!”, Obiano said.

Continuing, the governor said Anambra has been the safest state in Nigeria for eight long years, and its people shall not allow some unconscionable politicians to turn Anambra into a theatre of crime and absurdity.

According to him, “the negative identity they are trying to foist on Anambra State shall not prevail. We shall rise together to protect our state, protect our communities and defend our democracy!

“Ndi Anambra, November 6, 2021, is our date with destiny. On that day, we shall decide whether we shall continue our steady march into the Promised Land or turn around and head back to Egypt. But we may do well to remember that my Team and I have changed the story of Anambra State in the past eight years.”

The outgoing governor listed some of his administration’s projects that have placed the state on an enviable position to include; “A highly rated International Cargo and Passenger Airport, the largest Convention Center in Nigeria, a brand new Awka City Stadium, three gleaming flyovers and 18 bridges. The Golden Tulip Agulu Lake Hotel, a thriving agricultural revolution and solid education and health sectors.”

“My administration has laid a formidable foundation for the Anambra of our dream. We have endeared our great party, the All Progressive Grand Alliance to Ndi Anambra with a stellar performance. Therefore, we have no doubt that our people know where to vote on November 6, 2021.

“We all have a role to play to keep our dear state safe and ensure that the coming election offers Anambra State a chance to stay on the highway of greatness. We have a moral duty to come out in our numbers and cast our votes according to our conscience on November 6, 2021”, he adds.

However, in a statement, IPOB Spokesman, Emma Powerful, states: “Worried by the increasing rate of senseless killings in Biafra land especially Anambra and Imo States, the intelligence unit of IPOB, has been intensifying efforts towards uncovering the masterminds of these heinous crimes.

“These efforts have paid off as the unit has been able to track some of the people behind the atrocities. Through intelligence, we discovered that the Supreme Court Administrator of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma and his fellow traitors with the collaboration of the evil Nigeria security agents established a fake ESN group to eliminate perceived political opponents in the South East, particularly in Imo State.

“Our intelligence unit, the M. Branch, discovered that Hope Uzodinma is behind the killing of innocent citizens of Imo State. He and his co-traitors in their desperation to demonise IPOB and impress their Fulani slavemasters, set up a fake ESN which they are using to terrorise the people to create the wrong impression that IPOB and ESN have gone violent.”

It also named agents Uzodinma is allegedly using to eliminate his perceived political opponents, adding, “to prove to them that we are well ahead of them, we make bold to publish the names and phone numbers of those he is using to recruit fake ESN operatives in Imo State. The affected agents know very well that we know them.”

They named Ekene Anaduele, Aka Stainless, a former APGA aspirant in Imo State; C.O.C Akaolisa Attorney General, (Idemili Akwu Ojor Eziinwanne NA Orsu); and Emman Uguru, Deputy Chairman Orsu, (Edu Awo Idemili ).

IPOB added that Ikenna Ezubeozor, Chairman of Awo Idemili Town Union, is in charge of recruitment for Uzodinma while Amaokwe Chukwuka is youth leader, Obinna Izunobi Edeukwu as head of community policing and Nwadi Ikeh as a frontliner.

The group also listed Oguwara Ikeh, President Ndu Ukwu, as one of Uzodinma’s agents, pointing out, “these traitors and others are those behind the senseless killings and political assassinations in Imo State. Their intention is to disrepute IPOB by linking us with their atrocities but they won’t escape judgement. Their evil will soon catch up with them.

“These agents of death are the ones recruited by Hope Uzodinma to eliminate Imo citizens in their bid to disrepute ESN, a divine outfit established by our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to protect and secure our ancestral land against Fulani terrorists masquerading as herdsmen.

“Hope Uzodinma and co set up this recruitment team after the late Ikonso, a gallant ESN Special Commander rejected his offer and appeals to join them. They later killed Ikonso for turning down the satanic offer.”

In the meantime, Governor Obiano has promised that he will fight with the last drop of his blood over the plot by some elements to rig the November 6 governorship election in the state.

In his address to mark the 61st Independence Anniversary of the country, the governor accused some politicians of fomenting the insecurity situation in the state with the aim of perverting the people’s will in the poll.

“For us in Anambra, we have just stepped into our decisive moment; 37 days from today, Ndi Anambra will decide who will be their next governor. The approaching election has created strange desperation among the political class leading to acts that are not only inimical to the regime of peace that my administration has entrenched in our beloved state for eight years but also a threat to democracy.

The governor said The Independence Anniversary did not call for wild celebrations, adding, “It is a day for reflection and stock-taking”.
