DR. LAW MEFOR BURIES MOTHER JAN. 5TH

The family of the Late David Chigbogu Okafor-Mefor of Umudunu Agbaja Abatete, Idemili North LGA, Anambra State, has announced in a statement by Dr. Law Mefor for the family and released in Abuja, the passing of their matriarch, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law and aunt, Mrs. Celina Ifesinachi Okafor-Mefor (aka Nneokwukwe, London, Ononaenyi). She died a few weeks to her centenary celebration, aged 99 years.

A devout Catholic, Mrs. Celina Okafor-Mefor lived a remarkable practical Christian life and was conferred with the title of ‘Nneokwukwe’ i.e. Mother of Faith, by St. Dominic’s Catholic Parish, Abatete, Onitsha Archdiocese. A humanitarian and one who always worried about the welfare of the poor, she was among the few who shared palliatives to the less privileged in her home town during the COVID-19 lockdown earlier this year.

Mrs. Celina Okafor-Mefor will be buried on January 5, 2021, when her sojourn on earth will be 100 years, in her home town, Abatete, Idemili LGA, Anambra State, after the Requiem Mass at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Agbaja Abatete, where family, loved ones and well-wishers will gather to bid her farewell. Condolence visits to her family will continue after her burial till 6th January, 2021.

She is survived by 7 children, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, among who are: Rev. Fr. John Ifeanyichukwu Okafor-Mefor, Order of St. Augustine, Jos Archdiocese, Mrs. Uju Anthonia Okoye (nee Okafor-Mefor), Seattle, Washington, USA, and Dr. Law Mefor, Abuja-based renowned Author, Journalist, Forensic/Social Psychologist and Human Rights activist.
