Some hours after the Super Eagles of Nigeria got a call from President Muhammadu Buhari, they were dumped out of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations by Tunisia.

The lackluster Augustine Eguavoen’s men succumbed to a 1 nil defeat to Tunisia who were without their head coach and some regular players due to COVID-19.

President Buhari, had in a video call with the Eagles, said “You’ve been doing Nigeria proud. You’ve been winning. Please keep on winning. The Federal Government is supporting you, and I say thank you to all the technical crew and the players. Please keep doing the country proud”.

Recall that the Super Eagles won their three games in the group stage.

But the defeat to Tunisia means that they’re out of the competition.

Reacting to the defeat, popular Nigerian Table Shaker Reno Omokri, former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore and Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju who had earlier expressed outrage over Buhari’s video call with the Eagles, said the President is the reason they lost.

“Buhari Is The Reason Tunisia Defeated Nigeria So Disastrously,” Omokri wrote on Facebook.

Sowore wrote: “Muhammadu Buhari is bad luck for Super Eagles and Nigeria as whole! I said it! #RevolutionNow”

On his part, Adeyanju asked “Buhari why?”
