Big Brother Bungles With His Eviction Agenda After Using And Dumping The Vivacious Maria

As week 6 of the ‘Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eyes’ edition gets on to an unpredictable end, uncertainty looms as housemates share their eviction conspiracies on Maria’s exit during last Sunday eviction show in week five, and “Biggie’s Eviction Agenda” with 15 housemates being up for eviction this weekend. Most dominant subject on discuss both in and outside the house so far since her exit is Maria.

Cross, after noticing the tension building up in the room decided to step up to remind housemates that they could spend a better time focusing on making the most of their last week in the house, instead of decoding and dissecting what he termed “Biggie’s Eviction Agenda.” Recall that all the housemates in the ongoing edition are up for eviction this week except Jaypaul and Jackie B (daughter of Senator Grace Bent) who were immune by their Heads of House winning status, leaving the other unlucky 15 housemates on the chopping block.

In the late hours of the evening after it emerged the housemates on the expulsion list, Pere and Michael took to discuss their thoughts on how many housemates they think will be evicted at the Sunday Live Eviction and this conversation turned to be one of the most interesting late-night chats. Well, one got to see the current state of mind of most housemates. The pair agrees that there are so many different possibilities to the game but it wasn’t long before they started to decode and dissect last Sunday’s eviction show.

Pere and Michael strongly believe that Maria did not leave the BBNaija House. The two took turns to decode the series of events leading up to her exit and both these housemates were convinced that her eviction was part of the grand scheme of the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ experience. Recall that the former air hostess and realtor, Maria Chike-Benjamin; 23-year-old lawyer, Jumoke Adedoyin JMK, and 26-year-old Kaduna-born Sammie were, on Sunday, evicted from the reality TV show.

Michael queried why Biggie would call Ebuka off the stage for a long time just before Maria’s eviction. Pere is of the mind that one of the three evictions from Sunday was fake and it’s quite obvious which one he thinks is fake – Maria!

Uncertainty brewing…

It wasn’t long before other housemates joined in on the conversation to give their take on the 15 housemates being up for possible eviction. The 15 Housemates in no particular order are Angel, Boma, Cross, Emmanuel, Liquorose, Michael, Nini, Peace, Pere, Queen, Saga, Saskay, Tega, Whitemoney and Yousef. However, a number of housemates have dispelled the fact that this week’s eviction may be a fake.

The Maria effect in the House…

Maria’s perfect play as a master of deception; from her stealthy play as the wildcard to the Oscar-worthy performance in the Secret Task during her Head Of House reign – has housemates not convinced that her eviction is true.

Many Big Brother Naija reality show viewers are of the opinion that Big Brother used and dumped Maria without properly rewarding her before her eviction from the house. Maria’s eviction came as a shock to both the viewers and her fellow housemates as no one expected it. After her eviction, some viewers took to social media to drag Big Brother for ‘using Maria to promote the show’. Maria’s stay in the house was adventurous and she attracted a lot of fans.

How It Started…

After female housemates were introduced, Big Brother revealed that two among the 22 housemates were wild cards, who are to go without the housemates having a clue. On Sunday, August 1, the housemates were asked to figure out who the fake housemates were so they would be evicted. If the housemates guessed correctly, the wild cards would be evicted. If they guessed wrong, the wild cards would be given the power to nominate for eviction, while remaining in the house to compete for the N90 million grand prize.

On Thursday, July 29, Maria and Pere were unveiled to viewers as the wild cards. During one of the Diary Room sessions, Big Brother revealed some wild card clues to two housemates, Emmanuel Umoh and Tega Dominic. However, the housemates failed to make the right guess as they picked Liquorose and Jay Paul. This made Pere and Maria join the 20 housemates to compete for the prize money.

Maria was a Deputy to the third Head of House, Major General Pere, as he is fondly called by viewers because of his authoritative leadership trait. During her reign as a deputy HOH, on day 20 she was banned from the Head of House lounge for two weeks.

According to Big Brother, Maria broke Head of House’s room rules by inviting Peace and Liquorose into the room. This ban stopped her from having access to the HOH lounge when she (Maria) emerged as the fourth Head of House.

During her Diary Session with Big Brother, she was told there will be no eviction the coming Sunday and there won’t be public voting. However, she’s to keep this to herself and convince her fellow housemates that Biggie had scrapped the nomination for that week and she had the power to evict two housemates, and this will be based on how they impress her. A writing pad and pen were provided to her to help sell her story. She was told to create a scoring/ranking system.

But she was told not to turn housemates into slaves. Big brother promised to reward her if she is successful, while there will be consequences if she fails. Maria cried while coming out from the Diary Room, which made the other housemates pity her. She told her fellow housemates that she had been given veto power to put up two of the housemates for eviction, which is really a big decision for her to make.

That week, Maria gave viewers an Oscar-level performance. Due to her success, Big Brother rewarded her with Abeg naira.

Her Strike, Nomination and Eviction…

On Saturday, after the party, Maria took off her microphone and instructed Pere to remove his because she wanted to tell him something. On Monday, August 23, Big Brother gave Maria, Pere and JMK a strike each for microphone infringement after playing a tape of their infringement to the housemates in the lounge.

As part of their punishment, Big Brother barred them from competing in the Head of House games for 2 weeks, he denied them access to the Head of House lounge and he also denied them veto power which can allow the Head of House to save them from eviction.

So it was not surprising that many were shocked when Maria got the booth and felt she was just a tool in the hands of Biggie.

Her Choice as Wildcard
Meanwhile, Maria, has revealed why she agreed to come into the show as a wildcard i.e a fake housemate. In a Facebook live interview with Punch Online on Wednesday, the light skinned Maria said she took on the role because she loved challenges.

According to her, she didn’t know she was going to be a wildcard till the day that the show began but still agreed to take the role because she loved adventures.

Maria said, “It happened on the actual morning when the girls were going into the house by 2 am. We didn’t know that the guys had gone in on a Saturday. “In the early hours of Sunday when I had an interview with the creative directors and they asked if I wanted to do this, it was 50-50. They told me it could help me and it could also damage me depending on how it panned out.
“I love adventures. I love challenges so I didn’t really think of a negative side like, ‘what if I don’t deliver this properly and I get evicted after a week?’ That will deprive me of the essence and purpose of me going on the show.”

After many considerations, she decided to take on the persona. She however pointed out that she didn’t know there was another wildcard (Pere) till Big Brother announced it when the show began. Due to her perfect disguise, the housemates were unable to detect that she and Pere were the wildcards until both were finally exposed.

This sixth season of the reality TV show was launched on Saturday, July 24, 2021. The show kicked off with 22 housemates, – eleven guys joining on the opening Saturday evening. The following day, eleven female housemates were introduced to the game. Two weeks into the show, four new housemates, two males and two females were introduced to the game.

So far so good for BBNAIJA but it is necessary to inform the MultiChoice owners that the real Big Brother in Aso Rock despite his need for the taxes you provide in billions may decide to evict you one day especially now their children have become part and parcel of your repertoire.
