Anambra NYSC To Sanction Corps Members Who Violate COVID-19 Rules

Awka – The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State has warned that corps members found violating the COVID-19 rules would be sanctioned accordingly after facing the camp court.

The Coordinator, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa gave the warning at the State Permanent Orientation camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu on Thursday, during the induction of COVID-19/Sanitation Vanguards.

She explained that the Vanguards have been empowered to ensure all corps members adhered strictly to COVID -19 protocols.

Baderinwa charged the Vanguards to be exemplary in compliance with the protocols and maintaining cleanliness so as to drive the message and deliver on the mandate given them as agents of change.

“You’ve been empowered to make sure all corps members wear facemasks properly, wash their hands at intervals, make use of alcohol based hand sanitizer and ensure safe distancing as to flatten the curve of the deadly disease,” she said.

The Coordinator further admonished all prospective corps member to dispose their trash in waste bins provided in order to maintain a dirt-free environment.

She explained that the overall objective of the initiative was to ensure the safety of corps members especially with the ravages of the third wave of the coronavirus experienced the world over.

“We are concerned about the health and safety of our corps members. Through this initiative, we want to ensure that in the course of their stay in the camp, they are not only safe, but also that they internalize habits that will guarantee their safety even when they must have departed for their places of primary assignment. If they can imbibe these habits, we can be sure that they will take ownership of their own safety,” she enthused.
