The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed the Appeal Court victory of the candidate of the party, Mr Valentine Ozigbo over Sen. Ugochukwu Uba.
The Publicity Secretary of PDP in Anambra State, Mr Nnamdi Nwangwu in a press release on Saturday, said Mr Ozigbo’s victory is a collective victory for every true member of the party in the state and beyond.
In its ruling, the Court of Appeal recognized the gubernatorial primary conducted by the National Working Committee, NWC of the PDP, held on the 26th of June, 2021 at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center, Awka, as lawful.
The panel of justices presided over by Justice Dongban Mense, also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to immediately publish the name of Ozigbo, as the candidate of the PDP, for the November 6 Governorship election in Anambra.
It further awarded a cost of ten million against Senator Ugochukwu Uba for being a meddlesome interloper.
Reacting to the Friday judgement, Mr Nwangwu noted that the party was not surprised with the landmark judgement that has finally placed Sen. Uba where he actually belongs, “as Uba cannot sincerely claim to have participated in PDP governoship election primary.
“When other aspirants who ran alongside Mr Ozigbo in the PDP governorship election primary were busy mobilizing and canvassing for support of party faithful, Uba was nowhere to be found.
“It is high mark of irresponsibility for an individual who did not participate in a process to attempt to frustrate the move of PDP to emerge victorious in the November 6 governorship election, by getting his name published by INEC through the backdoor.”
The Anambra PDP image maker said with Appeal Court victory, it has become incumbent for the party members to immediately begin to advertize the good product of PDP, Mr Ozigbo to the populace.
He also applauded Anambrarians for their continued faith in the PDP and her governorship candidate,  Mr Ozigbo, who he said is poised to give them a responsible and responsive governance,  which he noted, has been missing in the state since the APGA- controled government came on board.
Nwangwu also commended the Appeal Court panel presided over by Justice Mense for its courage in the dispensation of justice.
