President Muhammadu Buhari might be spending his retirement from office in 2023, battling hard to defend some of his administration’s anti-people policies and to save himself from being jailed by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Former presidential aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, is already galvanizing a broad-based petition against President Buhari on the alleged massacre of EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate during the October 20, 2020, protest.

In the meantime, Alloy Ejimakor, a special counsel to the detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, says contrary to claims by Attorney General of the Federation and Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami, the report by the Lagos State EndSARS panel exonerates his client of any involvement in the protest.

Briefing reporters on Friday, Ejimakor recalled how Malami accused Kanu of ordering IPOB members to burn down the palace of the Oba of Lagos.

Malami had alleged that Kanu, the detained leader of the undying Biafra agitation in Eastern Nigeria on the platform of the mass movement IPOB had hijacked the EndSARS protest, claiming that Kanu took advantage of the protest, through subversive and inciting statements to create mayhem that led to the death of security agents.

Responding to the EndSARS report submitted to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State the previous Monday, Ejimakor said the panel in its findings made no mention of Kanu hijacking the protest, adding, “the report exonerated my client, Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB.

“If you recall, on October 22, a day after the last two hearings, after which my client pleaded not guilty to the seven amended charges, the Attorney General came out with a press release, where he reeled out very wild allegations that were not on the amended charges.

“One of the principal allegations he made against Nnamdi Kanu was that he was a ring leader in the EndSARS protest. He claimed that Kanu sent his members, IPOB, to burn the palace of the Oba of Lagos. Malami made a lot of allegations against Nnamdi Kanu and the IPOB regarding the EndSARS, and was silent on the innocent citizens that were massacred.

“Now, this report that came out has confirmed that innocent citizens as high as 11 were massacred. I have a copy of the report and I went through it. There is no single indictment of Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB members.”

However, Reno Omokri, a socio-political activist, has received over 73,000 signatures from Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora against President Buhari.

A leaked report of the Lagos Panel of Inquiry that investigated the allegations of killings at the Lekki Tollgate during the End SARS protest revealed that there was a massacre.

The report emerged amid claims by the Buhari administration that the allegations were false and aimed at tarnishing the image of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration UNDER THE WATCH OF President Buhari.

Interestingly, the damning report has sparked controversies from Nigerians who are challenging the Buhari administration to defend the report which is being studied by the Lagos State Government.

The former presidential aide issued a petition on change.org platform against President Buhari for allegedly ordering the Lekki shooting.

Over the weekend, it was observed that about 72,779 Nigerians have signed the petition which is directed to the International Criminal Court to prosecute President Buhari over alleged violation of the rights of Nigerian youths.

According to Reno, the petition will be submitted to ICC President, Piotr Hofmański, after it receives 100,000 signatures.

“By the grace of God, Buhari will retire to prison in 2023 and all future Presidents will see that there is a consequence to the mass murder of Nigerians by the state”, Omokri said.
