Again, APC Factional Chair Evades Murder Trial

The sacked factional State Chairman of the Rivers State wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ojukaye Flag Amachree, has again evaded his murder trial which came up in Port Harcourt, the state capital, yesterday.

As a result, the authorities have resolved to interface with the Inspector General of Police and the state Police Commissioner to produce the suspect in court this coming March 18, to face trial.

Counsel to the state, Chief Godwin Obla (SAN) said the interface has become necessary  because  of the alleged refusal of the APC chief  to willingly  appear in court.

According to Obla, the state prosecution team will use the gap between now and the next adjourned date to interface with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammed Adamu and the Commissioner of Police in Rivers, Usman Belel, to request that they strictly comply with the order of the court and produce the accused person, Amachree on the next adjourned date.

The counsel argued that if the accused person is not produced on the next adjourned date, there are legal processes to compel the police authorities to do so on March 18.

A Port Harcourt High Court on Wednesday, adjourned till March 18,  the murder case between the state and the sacked factional chairman of APC , Ojukaye Flag Amachree.

The trial Judge, Justice J. N. Akpughunum adjourned the matter following the absence of the defense counsel and the accused person in court.

The matter which had earlier been fixed for this past January 24, for the accused person to take his plea was further adjourned to February 20, following multiple murder charges leveled against him.
